Smart Fabrication specialise in all areas of steel pipe fabrication from small stainless & galvanised pipe welding through to large MSCL pipe welding. We fabricate pipe spool pieces, flanges, cut and join all size pipe either in house at our 27,000 square feet workshop or on site with our site trucks and containers. Our site trucks & containers are setup with fluxcore diesel welders and confined space gear ready to go on call.

At Smart Fabrication we appreciate quality and realise that the job isn't finished just because the pipe is welded. Traceability is vital and that is why with every pipe welding project we can provide copies of the following; Inspection & Test Plan, Job Safety Environment Analysis, Safe Work Method Statement, Welding Procedure Specification, Welder Qualification Record and Welding Record Sheet. On our most recent project we have been trialling new MDR software from an Adelaide Based company that is an online way of storing all the project documentation. It is all stored on a USB stick that will be supplied to the customer at the end of the project. This is also where all where all inspection reports and worksheets from NDT test as well as drawings and any other miscellaneous documents are kept.

Pipeline Welding
Site Capabilities: We currently have 2 x trucks, 3 x 4WD utes, 1 x 20ft container, 1 x 10ft mini container & 1 x site trailer setup specifically for site work & pipe welding including; flux core diesel welders, diesel compressor, breathable air filter system, oxy acetylene sets, grinders, drills, hand tools etc. Weather it be for an hour of a year we will come to you and get the job done!
Pipe Welding Projects
Some of the projects we have recently worked on include;
Torrens Aquaduct- 1.8m diameter MSCL pipe, 3.5km pipeline, part of $23million project. Smart Fabrication's involvement: Design and weld all pipe required for project. 3.5km of pipe total, hundreds or cuts, joins, bends, collars etc. Smart Fabrication had a semi-permanent site setup with 8 welders & tradesman working 10-12hrs/day 6 days a week. The pipe used on this project was the biggest in SA Waters network. This project was finished well under time and budget.
Glenelg to Adelaide Parklands- 0.4 0.6m diameter MSCL pipe, part of $75million project Smart Fabrication's involvement: Welding of over 100 Closing collars on site. Smart Fabrication had between from 2 - 4 welders & tradesman on site pipe welding 5 6 days a week. See the testimonials page for clients comments. Aldinga Storage Lagoon

Adelaide Desal Plant - 900 - 1575mm MSCL pipe, Desalanation Plant - Pt Stanvac Smart Fabrication's involvement:Fabricate and welding of priority MSCL spool pieces including lobster back elbows, concentric reducers, manifolds, flanges, blanks and lifting devices. Majority of this work was undertaken over the Christmas break where Smart Fab setup a temporary workshop and worked every possible man hour possible to ensure on time delivery of the pipes. 100% of weld were inspected with as little as < 1 % failing! Smart Fabrication prides itself on our quality. You could say its what separated us from our competition.
