Smart Fabrication are setup for undertaking large and unique projects and continues to raise the bar with their steel fabrication capabilities.

NSISP Eastern Pipeline Package (North to South Interconnector Systems Project)
Prime Customer: SA Water / Leed Engineering & Construction
Project Value: $2,500,000 - 3,000,000
Completion Date: 10th Nov 2011
Scope of work: Smart Fabs involvement on this $30 million project was as the prime contractor for all the site welding for the first 12km of MSCL pipe on the eastern pipeline package. This included up to seven site crews each consisting of up to three confined space welders & labourers. Also included was a large amount of workshop spools; isolation valves, air valves, bends etc. The MSCL (Mild Steel Concrete Lined) pipe ranged from DN150-DN1000 and Smart Fab are proud to boast that with thousands of welds completed we are still managing a 99.5% pass rate.

NIAW CentrAl Pipeline Package

Scope of work: Smart Fabs involvement on this $23 million package included up to five site setups for welding inside & out of pipes from DN250-DN1000, workshop MSCL spools, temporary stainless pump station, pipe supports, drill rig supports and site welding crews.

Scope of work: Smart Fabs involvement on this $66 million package included upto seven site setups for welding inside & out of pipes from DN250-DN1000, workshop MSCL spools, temporary stainless pump station, pipe supports, drill rig supports and site welding crews.

SECURITY Propellor Platform
Prime Customer: Australian Submarine Corporation
Project Value: $100,000 - $150,000
Scope of work: Design, fabricate and install an enclosed security/maintenance platform for the submarine's propellor. This is designed to keep the propellors out of satellite vision while repairs and maintenance can be made. The platform was approximately 7m long x 4m wide x 9m high. This job was barged from our workshop straight to the customer.

Kangaroo Island Sea Link Maintenance

Scope of work: Crew of up to 10 tradesman working on site at CUF (Common User Facility) at AWD (Air Warship Destroyer) complex. Scope included replacing both mild and stainless steel plate and pipe sections throughout the ferry.

Stirling Interchange Drainage Upgrade Project
Prime Customer: Department for Transport Energy & Infrastructure

Scope of work: Smart Fab's involvement on this $4 million project was to design & fabricate a machine capable of carrying large concrete pipes through existing iron pipes under the Stirling interchange without disturbing the highway. This project was done well under time and budget with almost zero impact on the freeway

This was commended with two awards; the Civil Construction Federation’s 2010 Earth Award in Category 4 (Project value between $20 and $75 million), and the 2010 South Australian Engineering Excellence Awards in the Infrastructure Projects category.
